Japan is working on plans to launch a new visa for foreign graduates for budding entrepreneurs willing to set up a business in the country. This new start-up visa will allow graduate students who graduated from universities in Japan to stay in Japan for up to 2 years. In this time, the student can set up a new business in Japan.
The new system will get started in 2020 financial year. The new plan is to facilitate the creation of opportunity for students to work in Japan after the graduation. As of now, international graduates can work in any role as long as their annual earnings are over 3 million Yen (i.e., US$28700). A graduate’s average salary is only 2.3 million Yen.
Alongside to their studies, students in Japan have permission to work up to 28 hours a week. But, to avail this facility, the student must apply for a work permit along with the student visa.
