Manitoba is Canada’s important province in terms of job generation for skilled international graduates and foreign workers. Lately, the province went on to invite more of such aspiring immigrants-to-be to settle and work in the province.
Immigration candidates were invited by Manitoba PNP to apply for a provincial nomination. A PNP draw was conducted on September 23, 2021, in which 650 immigration candidates received invitations.
Candidates who were selected were eligible to apply for a provincial nomination from Manitoba. If they accepted it, they will get an assured opportunity to apply for Canada PR in an upcoming federal Express Entry draw.
Here’s how the draw went:
Stream | No. of invitations | Min. EOI score |
Skilled Workers Overseas | 67 | 718 |
Skilled Workers in Manitoba | 529 | 401 |
International Education | 54 | NA |
135 of the invitations sent were issued to Express Entry candidates.
About Express Entry
Express Entry is a points-based application management system used by the federal government to manage applications for immigration. These applications are filed for 3 federal high-skilled immigration programs namely CEC, FSTP, and FSWP.
The applicants to Express Entry have their profiles added to a candidate pool that's accessible to both federal and provincial governments. Every candidate profile is ranked by CRS with scores assigned. Factors like age, education, work experience, and skills in Canada’s official language are considered to decide the scores.
When provincial governments choose and nominate Express Entry candidates through PNP draws, they automatically add 600 extra points to their original CRS scores. This way, the candidates get a higher score that will increase their chances to get an ITA to the near surety in a forthcoming federal immigration draw.
For a provincial nomination, these candidates need to create an EOI profile with the provincial PNP involved. The EOI profiles are given scores on the province’s unique points grid.
The highest-scoring Express Entry candidates are invited by IRCC to apply for Canada PR when they take part in regular invitation rounds. Those who are invited can officially apply for Canada immigration.
Manitoba immigration programs
Manitoba’s immigration programs find the most suitable skilled foreign candidates who can meet the labor requirements of Manitoba. MPNP gives support to Canada immigration applications received by the Canadian government.
Canadian provinces don’t possess the right to grant Canada PR. Hence, they help the candidates to obtain a chance to apply for permanent residence through the issue of a provincial nomination.
If you as an immigration candidate want to benefit from Manitoba’s provincial nomination, you must first create an EOI with the MPNP. Your profile will be ranked by Manitoba PNP on a scale of 1,000 points. Various human capital factors will be considered in doing this.
If you apply under the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, you will have to demonstrate your Manitoba connections. Such a connection could be made via Manitoba experience acquired previously, relatives in the family residing in the province or an invitation through one of Manitoba’s strategic recruitment initiatives. You don’t have to live in Manitoba at the time of applying to be treated as eligible.
For you to get invited by Manitoba PNP through the Skilled Workers in Manitoba stream, you will have to get a full-time job offer from an employer in Manitoba.
If you are applying as an international graduate under the International Education stream you must have completed your education in Manitoba. You must also demonstrate in-demand skills in your field of occupation.
