Overview:

On July 21, 2022, the reform, introduced by the parliament, has received most of the votes, especially from the left and Socialist parties. The new immigration law is set to begin in the next few days in which, foreigners who are looking for good job opportunities in Portugal will receive a temporary visa with a validity of 120 days. Under the new reform laws, this temporary visa will be made available for extension by 60 days.

Portugal's new immigration law

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of the Portugal country, has approved the amendment towards the immigration law of Portugal to reconstruct the recruitment procedure, making it easier for the foreign workers to travel.

On July 21, 2022, the reform, introduced by the parliament, has received most of the votes, especially from the left and Socialist parties. The primary reason for implementing this reform, was to address shortages in the labor force and meet the economic needs of the country.

The new immigration law is set to begin in the next few days in which, foreigners who are looking for good job opportunities in Portugal will receive a temporary visa with a validity of 120 days. Under the new reform laws, this temporary visa will be made available for extension by 60 days.

Main objective of the reform

The new reform is expected to help in simplifying the procedure for the digital nomads, who work remotely while traveling to different locations and strive to address the difficulties, faced by the nation, such as lack of labor force.

The primary sectors struggling with labor force are, tourism and construction, in which, hospitality industry encountered the most-affected in Portugal because of labor shortages.
