Abstract: Canada requires more skilled immigrants to fill up around 1 million job vacancies.

The Minister of Housing and Diversity and Inclusion of Canada, Ahmed Hussen, has stated that the country hopes to attract more international professionals to participate in the building trades and other sectors to fill up job vacancies.

There are around 1 million jobs in Canada that require skilled professionals to fill the jobs and boost the country’s economy.

Around 1 million jobs in Canada in the 3rd quarter of 2022

In its recent quarterly report, Statistics Canada stated that there are 959,600 job vacancies in the 3rd quarter of 2022. It is 8.3% higher compared to the 3rd quarter of 2021 and 72.7% higher than the 1st quarter of 2020.

In the Immigration Levels Plan 2023-2025 of Canada, Ottawa has set a target to invite 465,000 newcomers in 2023. The country will be welcoming 485,000 new foreign nationals through Canada PR or permanent residency in 2024 and an additional 500,000 in 2025.
