There are 6 new immigration pathways for Canada PR that are going to be launched in May 2021. These pathways are meant for international graduates, essential workers, and French speakers in Canada.
The announcement of the new pathways was made on April 14, 2021. These pathways are expected to create 90,000 new permanent residents in Canada. The 3 streams for immigrants who speak French won’t have a cap on their intake.
On May 6, 2021, IRCC will begin taking applications from immigration candidates under the following streams:
The streams will be open until the limit is reached or till November 5, 2021, whichever happens first.
Those who are willing to work in Canada and trying to reach Canada under these streams will need a minimum Canadian work experience of 1 year. The experience must be in a healthcare profession or any other essential job that has been pre-approved.
International graduates will have to complete a post-graduate program in Canada considered eligible within the last 4 years and not earlier than January 2017.
Language proficiency in one of Canada’s official languages will be a must for graduates and workers. They will also have to meet requirements for being admissible. They must be present in Canada, be authorized to work in Canada and work in Canada while applying in Canada. Only then they will be able to qualify. They must also be living in Canada in any location other than Quebec.
In the coming 3 years, Canada is intending to invite 1.2 million new immigrants. In 2021 alone, the target is to bring in 401,000 new Canada PR visa holders. The only challenge is posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and the travel restrictions imposed to prevent its spread.
