Seven Particular Categories That Are Included In This New Rule:

Other than the foreign professions, groups of foreign nationals (non-EU/EEA or Nordic citizens) don’t need a mandatory work visa to enter Denmark based on their professions. They are:

  • General exemptions: This category includes foreign diplomats with their families and household staff, staff on international trains, vehicles, and Danish commercial ships addressing particular ports and shipyards.
  • Guest teachers for up to five days: Teachers or professors who will be teaching for up to five days under the Ministry of Higher Education and Science or the Ministry of Culture institutions for 180 days won’t need a work permit.
  • Artists, musicians, and performers: Including their staff and managers, make-up artists, dressers, sound and light staff, and tour drivers are not required to opt for a work permit if they play a significant role in public artistic events that last less than 14 days.
  • Board members up to 40 days: Board members are not required to obtain a work permit for up to 40 days within a calendar year as long as they perform Demark professional duties.
  • Professionals with special work assignments up to 90 days: Professionals including researchers, foreign company representatives on business trips, and household staff or foreign nationals who are visiting Denmark for three months can perform specific tasks without a work permit for 90 days from the date of entry.

Citizens of countries with visa requirements still need a Denmark visitor’s visa. The visitor who already has a work permit limited to a specific job but wants to teach in a different institution must opt for a side-line employment permit.

SIRI (International Recruitment and Integration) announced during the processing of applications for work and residency permits that the Danish government will use information from the Confederation of Danish Employers to know about the position offered to the employee.
