Highlights of Norway granting NOK 50 million to 17 universities

  • Norwegian government assigns NOK 50 million to around 17 universities to support in covering travel expenses, Internships, and study
  • The University of Western Norway, VID University of Applied Sciences, and Norway’s Arctic University get the maximum funds
  • According to the revised budget, 2022 is to support in providing, and maximizing the internships to provide in the categories of health and social studies
  • The other universities that also receive the funding are Lovisenberg Diaconal College, the University of Bergen, the University of Molde, the University of Oslo, the University of Southeast Norway, the University of Stavanger, and more

Norway grants total funds of NOK 50 million to 17 universities

The government of Norway announced funds of NOK 50 million for 17 colleges, and state and private universities so that the universities could cover the travel expenses for the foreign students who are willing to participate in getting internships that are not near to their study places.

Universities that have got the highest funds are VID University of Applied Sciences, the University of Western Norway, and Norway’s Arctic University.

The following table displays some of the Norwegian universities that are going to receive the funds:

This investment helps to support the intention of increasing the number of internships that are given in health and social studies courses.

Previous allocations of funds by the Norwegian government

  • Previously, the Norwegian government allotted funds for 300 new study places in nursing and specialist nursing education.
  • The government also requested colleges and universities to 200 new study places in nursing education in current frameworks.
  • In 2021, the Norwegian ministry announced the requirement of nurses and study places 500 in nursing Norway along with the requirement of offering internships.
  • The government of Norway supported the idea of internships for nursing in 2022 and made the documentation easy for students to get internships far from the campuses.
  • Around 3,500 students from the municipalities can now take benefit of an internship.  
  • The Norwegian government also allotted €8.8 million recently, for 13 higher educational colleges, institutions, and universities for international educational cooperation with partner countries like Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Africa, and South Korea.
  • This will help students to be part of exchange student programs with partner countries.
  • According to a German data provider, the number of international students opting to study in Norway is increasing in the last 10 years.
