AIP of Nova Scotia
AIP was introduced in 2017. It was launched as a pilot program to promote skilled workers to immigrate to 1 of the 4 provinces of the Canadian Atlantic. The program went on to become successful and was converted to a permanent program in January 2022. This program has been influential in welcoming newcomers who chose to migrate to Canada.
The program encourages employers of Atlantic Canada to apply for the official designation of the province. They can hire an immigrant without the LMIA or the Labour Market Impact Assessment.

If an Atlantic Canadian employee accepts a job offer from an international worker, the employer needs to connect them with the appointment settlement service provider. The provider will make an assessment of the immigrant and dependants arriving with them to devise a settlement plan.
In 2021, the AIP invited 1,564 immigrants for permanent residency in Nova Scotia. It helped them boost the population of the province and welcomed over one million immigrants for the first time in history.
Through the AIP more than ten thousand immigrants came between 2017 and 2021 the settle in the province.
