Details of Ontario welcomed immigrants:

In 2022, Ontario welcomed 227,424 immigrants. Of these, 92% were within the core working age group (under 54).

 

80% of recent core working-age immigrants have post-secondary education credentials, and 38.5% have Canadian work or study experience. This is regarded as a change from long-established immigrants to those in Canada who have been here for more than five years.

 

Ontario’s recent data shows that 66.7% of established immigrants have post-secondary credentials, and 5.4% have Canadian Work or study experience.

 

Most immigrants that have entered Ontario since the 1980s. 43.4% of newcomers to Ontario, were Economic immigrants for those considered skilled workers, which have increased over the past several decades to 51.7%.

 

Most of the economic immigrants arrived through express-managed programs, such as:

 

 

Meanwhile, fewer immigrants arrive through family class sponsorship, from 34.3% to 25%.

As the report shows:

 

  • 83% of working-age immigrants in Ontario are in the Service Sector.
  • 4.2% professional, scientific, and technical services
  • 3.5% in transport and warehousing
  • 3% in finance and insurance  

 

Later on, after using the 2021 Census, from 2016-2021, the report shows that working-aged immigrants in Ontario 31.2% held professional occupations, which is higher than the 25.5% of immigrants who landed in 2011-2015.

 

Places that the immigrants choose for immigration:

Most recent immigrants in Ontario have decided to settle in Toronto. 67% of recent immigrants choose Toronto. Toronto has a higher number of immigrants settled in. 82% of newcomers have settled there.

 

To give a fair report, other places have:

 

  • Ottawa-Gatineau (+2.1 %)
  • Kitchener-Cambridge-Waterloo (+1.8 %)
  • London (+1.5 %)
  • Hamilton (+0.6 %).

 

Currently, immigration in Ontario has risen to 42.5%.
