Orana in New South Wales had not been accepting applications for the Subclass 489 Visa for some time. It has now introduced a new Expression of Interest (EOI) system. The Orana Regional Development Australia would be able to screen the best candidates for state nomination through the new EOI system.
First priority will be given to applicants who are already living and working in Orana. They can submit their EOIs between 1st and 14th June 2019. Orana will, henceforth, continue to accept visa applications between the 1st and 14th of each month.
Only those candidates who meet the below criteria would be able to apply for the June EOI:
1. Should have been living and working in Orana for a minimum of 6 months
2. Should have been working a minimum of 30 hours a week
3. The nominated occupation of the applicant should be on the Orana Skills Occupation List
4. The nominated occupation should be listed under the Long, Medium or Short-term skills list for Orana
Orana is also accepting applications for Aged Care Workers. However, the candidate should have been living and working in Orana for at least 6 months, as per SBS News.
For the July Expression of Interest, Orana has issued specific conditions. This is to ensure only high-calibre candidates committed to living and working in Orana are nominated for sponsorship.
The Occupation List of Orana consists of occupations from Engineering, Education, Nursing and Accounting fields.
Candidates who are successful will be invited to submit a full application within 7 days.
The EOI fee is $300 and the full application fee is $500.
New South Wales is expected to make a number of changes to the regional certifying bodies. It may also make changes to its Skilled Occupation List.
RDA Orana will also make changes to the occupation list and also determine the number of pro-rata occupations.
