Here’s news for those interested in migrating to Canadian provinces to do business or work.

Prince Edward Island conducted another monthly PEI PNP draw on September 16, 2021. Invitations were sent to 143 immigration candidates. They were invited to place an application for a provincial nomination.

Here are the details of the distribution of invitations among the categories of candidates involved in the draw:

  • Express Entry & Labor Impact – 129 invitations
  • Business Impact – 14 invitations (Minimum points required was 72)

So far in 2021, PEI has issued 1,337 invitations. This monthly PNP draw will be taking place next on October 21, 2021.

About Express Entry category

Express Entry is a points-based application management system used by the federal government to manage applications for immigration. These applications are filed for 3 federal high-skilled immigration programs namely CEC, FSTP, and FSWP.

The applicants to Express Entry have their profiles added to a candidate pool that's accessible to both federal and provincial governments. Every candidate profile is ranked by CRS with scores assigned. Factors like age, education, work experience, and skills in Canada’s official language are considered to decide the scores.

When provincial governments choose and nominate Express Entry candidates through PNP draws, they automatically add 600 extra points to their original CRS scores. This way, the candidates get a higher score that will increase their chances to get an ITA to the near surety in a forthcoming federal immigration draw.

For a provincial nomination, these candidates need to create an EOI profile with the provincial PNP involved. The EOI profiles are given scores on the province’s unique points grid.

The highest-scoring Express Entry candidates are invited by IRCC to apply for Canada PR when they take part in regular invitation rounds. Those who are invited can officially apply for Canada immigration.

About Labor Impact category

Under this category foreign nationals with a valid job offer in PEI participate. They have the support of their PEI employers too. Sub-divisions of this category are Critical Worker, International Graduate, and Skilled Worker.

Those who come under this category need to submit an EOI which will deem them eligible for a provincial nomination.

About Business Impact category

Candidates under this category require a minimal provincial score if they want to apply for a nomination. The score requirement changes with each draw.

PEI sent invitations under the Work Permit Stream in the September 16 draw. The Work Permit Stream is meant for foreign entrepreneurs with the intention of owning and operating a business in PEI.
