The reports of the National Statistics Institute (INE) stated that Portugal had 600,000 visitors, which was higher than in 2021, when the pandemic limitations and restrictions remained in effect in July 2022.

Additionally, Portugal recorded 1.78 million arrivals, which was the highest for tourism in July 2019, and the tourism sector of the country has displayed 15 percent of the GDP at pre-pandemic levels, which has restricted global traveling.

Despite that, the number of international visitors in the first seven months of 2022 was 8.1 million in total which was about a million less of the same time from the pre-pandemic levels.
