A scholarship opportunity for students in Saskatchewan

You can now apply to the Saskatchewan Agriculture Student Scholarship Program for its scholarship in 2021.

The aim of the scholarship is to encourage conversations that are constructive, to address matters like:

• Where the food comes from
• How each person is placed in the value-chain
• How every person has a role in talking about food production

The theme for the scholarship this year is “transparency”. Scholarship applicants must explore the meaning of transparency and its connection with the public perception of modern agriculture.

Students are required to create a 1,000-word essay or a 3-minute video that discusses transparency in agriculture. For Grade-12 and/or recent graduates going to do agriculture-related post-secondary studies in 2021.

There will be one scholarship winner who will win $4,000 and 3 runners-up, each of whom will win $2,000.

The funding for the award comes via the Canadian Agricultural Partnership.  It’s a $388 million 5-year investment in the federal and provincial governments’ strategic initiatives.

The deadline to apply for the scholarship is March 1, 2021.
