South Australia opened the state nomination program in July this year. Ever since Immigration SA has received a huge number of applications.
States and territories can only nominate candidates for the Subclass 489 Visa till 10th September. This is as per the guidelines issued by the Dept. of Home Affairs. Nominated applicants will get 60 days to lodge their Subclass 489 Visa application. The Subclass 489 visa will be terminated on 15th November 2019. The new Subclass 491 Skilled Work Regional Provisional Visa will replace the Subclass 489 Visa from 16th November.
Immigration SA has stopped accepting Subclass 489 applications from 14th August 2019. This is done to enable Immigration SA to deal with the huge volume of applications. Applications which had been saved but not submitted have also been deleted.
Immigration SA is currently processing Subclass 489 applications to meet the 10th September deadline set by the Dept. of Home Affairs.
Subclass 190 applications will not be affected and South Australia will continue to accept them at present. However, processing of Subclass 190 applications will resume after the 10th September deadline, as per SBS News.
For onshore Subclass 190 Visa applicants, if you have an impending document expiry, you may lodge an inquiry online on the Immigration SA website. Immigration SA takes 7 business days to respond to your inquiries.
