A candidate who wants to become a registered nurse in Australia has to go for a Bachelor of Nursing course and complete it successfully.
Before enrolling for the classes, the candidate has to apply for National Policy Check and Working With Children Check. These checks are the requirements for the entire course. Besides this, vaccination report also has to be submitted.
This is a stage in which the candidate has to produce his contact and personal information along with information and qualification requirements. This evidence has to be uploaded for the support of the application. After reviewing all the requirements, the candidate will receive a letter from AHPRA.
After completion of all the formalities, the candidate can go for the Bachelor of Nurse course. Theory and practical classes for the candidates will be arranged. Besides this, the candidates will also have to go for working in operation theaters, aged care facilities, and many other departments related to nursing.
The candidate has to go through an outcome-based assessment, which consists of two stages. The first stage is MCQ or multiple-choice questions, and the second one is OSCE or objective structured clinical exam. MCQ asessment is a computer-based exam, and the candidate has to go to dedicated centers to take up the exam.
AHPRA organizes OSCE exam, which is equal to graduate-level nurses or midwives. The fee of the OSCE exam is Australian dollars $4,000. Eligible candidates from abroad will get a spot to sit in the exam if a proof of valid visa is submitted by them. The visa proof has to be submitted three months before the exam.
