The step-by-step process to apply for a temporary Canada visa

Next, choose the purpose of moving to Canada.

The IRCC website redirects the applicants to a similar "Get the application package" button, regardless of the purpose of wanting a visa.

Clicking on that button directs the applicant to a page that permits them to download and complete the application package. Even foreign nationals are given the option of applying online.

Step 3: Review and stay updated with the processing times

It is always good to follow up on the current processing times for the Canadian visas, which differ by the type of visa and the country in which the foreign nationals live.

Acquiring a temporary work permit may take 23 weeks for someone from China (excluding the application process time or the applicant's biometrics to reach Canada). An application for the same type of visa for a person from the United States would take eight weeks.
