Employment growth in Canada (2016 - 2021)

Both Toronto and Vancouver were listed among the 10 top-ranked tech markets in Canada’s new report of Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis research (CBRE), the Evolving Workforce: Scoring Tech Talent 2022 of North America. According to the research of Coldwell Banker Richard Ellis, “Among all the other cities, Toronto has seen a massive growth in the technology talent, followed by Vancouver, and Seattle.” The job vacancies in technological sector in each of these cities are mentioned in the table below:

An innovation hub will be introduced by the southern Ontario region, as it has been seeing magnificent growth in the technology sector. As per the CBRE reports, “Canada’s Waterloo Region, Seattle, and Toronto are considered in the list of top 5 technology markets ranging between 9.6 percent to 10.3 percent of their total employment. This high percentage of the highly-skilled workers provides an environment that can be beneficial to innovate.” Besides the high demand in Canada’s tech sector for skilled workers, most of the places in Canada is having huge number of vacancies and less people to fill the gaps. This is because the number of job vacancies and new tech companies are increasing with a high pace.
  • Toronto has approximately produced 32.9 percent or 29,312 tech degrees, from which the city required employers to fill in 88,900 new tech jobs in the last five years.
  • Vancouver has strived to produce only 31.6 percent, or 14,041, among the total of 44,460 tech degrees in the same period of five years.
