Three universities in Canada have been included in the world's top 100 universities. The universities were ranked in the 9th Best Global Universities rankings.

The University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, and McGill University are among the 100 universities in the world.

3 of the world’s best universities in Canada

The information about the three universities in Canada is given below:

  • University of Toronto

The University of Toronto was placed in the 18th position in the top 100. It was ranked such due to the quality of the papers and the reputation of research across the globe. The university also has a significant international student population.

  • University of British Columbia

The University of British Columbia was placed in the 35th position in the global universities report. It is the 2nd best university in Canada. It was appreciated for its breakthrough research in the medical field.

How to apply for study in Canada?

International individuals who wish to study at the universities of Canada are required to apply for study permits. A study permit allows the foreign candidate for pursuing education in Canada in a DLI or designated learning institute.

A foreign candidate may be exempted from not requiring a study permit for education in Canada if they fulfill the following conditions:

  • The study program lasts for less than 6 months.
  • The student is a relative or staff of a representative of a foreign body to Canada.
  • The candidate is a member of an international armed force.
  • Know more about the Canadian study permit
  • The study permit of Canada facilitates international students to work while they pursue their study program.
  • The eligibility criteria for the Canadian study permit are given below:
  • They have been accepted into a DLI in Canada.
  • They have submitted proof of adequate funds.
  • Police certificate verifying no criminal records.
  • Good health certificate.
  • Affirm that they will leave Canada after the completion of their authorized stay

A TRV or Temporary Resident Visa may be required if the candidate is a citizen of a country where such visas are necessary for entry into Canada. It is not required for individuals from visa-exempt countries.

Work while studying in Canada

The international student can work in Canada during their studies through the following categories:

  • Without a Work Permit while staying on campus
  • With a Work Permit while staying off campus
  • Co-op and Internship programs require work experience as a part of the curriculum. It also provides a Work Permit.

Canada allows international students to work unlimited hours, off-campus
