TRA - Trades Recognition Australia has announced changes to the process of certain Australia jobs application with respect to skills assessment for four occupations that are licensed. The applicants of these select occupations are now required to get their skills assessed by an organization for registered training. This is effective from 27 March 2018. It must have been approved by the TRA RTO under the program OSAP - Offshore Skills Assessment Program. The occupations are:
· Mechanic - Air conditioning and Refrigeration
· Electrician - General
· Electrician - Special Class
· Plumber – General
The assessment under Migration Skills Assessment Program of the TRA will no longer be available to the applicants. OSAP applicants who are successful will be given a Migration outcome letter, as quoted by the Australian. They will also be given the OTSR - Offshore Technical Skills Records to cater to the territory and state requirements for licensing.
The applicants can locate the RTOs that are approved by the TRA for offering services for skills assessment through the RTO Finder of the website of the TRA. Applicants are required to travel to the closest TRO assessment centre approved by the TRA in their geographic region if it is absent in their nation of residence. They must also ensure that the assessment center chosen by them offers the assessment of skills in the occupation chosen by them prior to the commencement of the process of skills assessment.
