Details of Private Teacher Work Permit

The Private Teacher Work Permit is available for registered teachers, employed professionals, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

The introduction to the ‘Private Teacher Work Permit’ is for individuals qualified to provide private lessons, which will help curb illegal and unregulated practices while recruiting private teachers, who won’t risk the effective learning process as a whole.

Pointers about the new private tutor license:

 

• Eligibility and Application: This permit is open to registered teachers, employed and unemployed individuals, and school and university students aged 15 to 18. Applications are available on MoHRE’s digital platform. 
• Cost and Validity: The permit is valid for two years and issued for free. Qualified individuals being granted a permit can offer private lessons and generate direct income provided they follow the code of conduct approved by the minister. 
• Penalties: Offering private lessons without an issued permit may result in fines and other penalties. However, the specific amount for the penalty still needs to be clarified. 
• Geographical Flexibility: Licensed tutors can work from their home country, presuming they have valid residency. 
• Student Limit: There is no specific number of students that an individual can teach. It entirely depends on them. 
• Processing Time: The visa processing time will take one to five working days. 
• Application Denial: If the application is rejected, they can apply for the visa again after six months. 

 

Documents required: 

• Valid UAE residency (passport/Emirates ID)
• Signed declaration
• Certificate of Good Conduct
• No-objection certificate from the employer
• No-objection certificate from the guardian (for students offering private tuition)
• Experience certificate (if any)
• A photo with a white background.
