From July 1, 2021, international students across the world can apply to the UK’s new Graduate Route. This route is meant for foreign students who will be allowed to work or seek work after completing a degree at UG level or above.
Students will be able to look for work after their study in UK for a maximum of 2 years (3 years for Ph.D. students). The UK has also extended COVID-19 related concessions for international students who can’t come to the country now. Students who commenced their studies in the autumn of 2020, will have to be present in the UK by June 2021. Students who were supposed to start their studies in January or February this year will now have to be present in the UK by September 27, 2021.
Those going for the Graduate Route won’t need a job offer to apply for it. SO, obviously, there won’t be requirements for a minimum salary. There won’t be a cap on the number of applications accepted.
Eligibility
International students who have completed a UK degree at the level of a bachelor’s degree or above are eligible to apply for this Route. The student may alternatively have an eligible professional qualification with a provider of higher education. The education provider must have a track record of complying with the immigration requirements of the UK government.
The new Graduate Route is expected to benefit the education sector of the UK by bringing in more money. This is expected to happen as the UK is planning to increase the number of international students in its higher education sector to 6 lakhs by 2030.
