The intention to study in UK is one of the most popular goals of migrants all over the world. The UK tier 4 visa enables prospective students to come to the UK and pursue courses in UK colleges and universities.
After the COVID-19 pandemic hit the UK and UK immigration, there have been concerns about the decline in the number of students arriving for higher education. This makes it essential that necessary changes in policies with regard to the Tier 4 visa be made. The visa process has to be made cheaper, simplified, and faster so that international students will be attracted to the UK for higher studies.
Now, the UK has made the visa procedures for international students more flexible. An announcement declaring this was made by the UKVI department of the Home Office. The works in this direction were done by partnering with VFS Global, one of the world’s largest providers of technology services and outsourcing solutions to governments across the world and for diplomatic missions.
With increased flexibility in the visa process, international students will be able to apply for a UK visa 6 months before traveling to the UK. This is a big improvement from what previously students could apply for only close to the start date of the course.
In the new flexibilities introduced by UKVI health measures are included throughout the visa process. It ensures a safer and more comfortable environment for all applicants. This is particularly so for international students arriving in the UK.
All the UK VACs now have a compulsory appointment system. Every visitor is checked for body temperature and asked to follow social distancing while entering the VAC. Thus, VFS Global is taking steps to make the visa process to students safer.
Also, UKVI is letting international students take courses from their own country remotely using online classes. This will not need them to have a Tier 4 visa that is meant for foreign students arriving in the UK to study.
From June 6, 2020, many UK VACs in different countries of the world started to resume operations and enable applications.
The new PSWV issued by the UK will apply to the following categories of students in 2021:
The new PSWV will be launched next summer, which will apply to online students too.
