Updates in the UK PSW visa cheered by international students

An extension is now declared for the deadline for entry to qualify for the new UK PSW visa. This is great news to international students who are seeking a UK PSW visa. The visa allows them to work, or seek a job, for 2 years after they complete their studies.

Priti Patel, the UK Home Secretary, had announced the new PSW visa after its revamping in 2020. Applications to the new visa will be accepted in July 2021.

Talking of requirements for visa application, students doing courses off-campus and online due to the COVID-19 pandemic had to be in the UK by June 21, 2021. Only then they could qualify for a PSW visa.

But now, the Home Office has made an amendment to its guidance. The Home Office has extended the deadline from June 21, 2021 to September 27, 2021.

Home Office PSW Visa Guidance Update

• Applicants who commenced their studies in the Autumn of 2020 have until September 27, 2021, to come to the UK permitted as a student so that they are eligible to apply to the graduate route.
• Students who commenced their studies in January/February 2021 must be in the UK before September 27, 2021.

UUKI, a representative organization for 146 universities, has issued the advisory to international students. These candidates who are holding out for an offer from a UK university must contact their institution to learn about the latest plans for commencing their studies in September 2021.
