Highlights: USA Streamlines ‘Schedule A’ List for ‘Green Card’

  • US President Job Biden issues EO on October 30, 2023
  • AI, STEM, and other jobs facing worker scarcity included
  • US DOL seeks public input in the next 45 days till December 14
  • ‘Schedule A’ List Streamlined for ‘Green Card’ Processing

The US Department of Labor (DOL) has streamlined the ‘Schedule A’ list to meet the US worker shortage. This is expected to help expedite US ‘green card’ processing of jobs. Once reviewed and approved by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and including AI-related, STEM, and other related jobs that are facing a worker shortage, DOL will release the list for public input until December 14, although finalization of the list may take a few more months.

Currently, PR-related ‘Schedule A’ cases are exempt from labor market testing, covering only specific healthcare jobs and exceptional individuals. The US DOL stepped in after US President Joe Biden issued an Executive Order on October 30, 2023. An essential part of the EO was asking US DOL to issue RFI or Request For Information to gather inputs within 45 days on various AI, STEM-related and other occupations facing worker shortages.
