Gold cards will replace EB5 visa

The Gold card visa will replace the 35-year-old EB-5 program within two weeks. However, the date is yet to be announced. The Gold card is a green card or permanent residency that will raise the price of admission for investors and reduce the number of frauds characterized by the EB-5 program. According to the Homeland Security Department, around 8,000 applicants received investor visas in the 12 months ending September 30, 2022.

Investor visas across the world

Over 100 countries, including the U.K., U.S., Spain, Greece, Malta, Australia, Canada, and Italy, offer golden visas to wealthy applicants. The visa allows wealthy foreign nationals to gain citizenship via investment.

The US government hasn’t mentioned any job requirements for the proposed Gold Card visa. Unlike the EB-5 program, the Gold Card won’t have any cap, as the government is planning to give 10 million of these visas, which will help to reduce fraud. The Gold Card is somewhat similar to a Green Card, except it is for wealthy people and essential applicants of great talent. Companies will pay for foreign nationals to get in and to have long-term status in the country.
