Overseas immigrants have been cautioned against fake online visas by the Vietnam’s Consulate – General in Sydney. The website of the Consular office has a warning note from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in Australia regarding fake online visas and also a list of online portals that are illegal, as quoted by Bendigo Advertiser.
Here is an instance of Lynne Rowlands from Bronte New South Wales who required a one-entry visa for a three-night stay in the city of Ho Chi Minh during the return journey from the UK. The travel agent utilized services of a visa consultancy firm and Rowlands was asked to make an initial payment of 180 Dollars. After some days additional 90 Dollars were asked that made up to a total of 270 Dollars for a stay of just three nights.
The travel agent informed that the high costs were also partially due to the Transit visa involved for the airport on the outward journey. Rowlands was highly doubtful of the Transit visa as the Edgecliff’s Vietnam Consulate had informed him upon verification that the Transit visa was not required and the cost of a one -entry visa was 85 Dollars.
Rowlands immediately asked the travel agent to return the money and passport and it was delayed by almost 10 days. He then submitted the visa application with the Vietnam Consulate and paid the visa fee of 85 Dollars. The visa was processed in just 2 days.
Rowlands said that the staffs at the Consulate were very efficient and supportive.
