If you are a new immigrant in Canada, you may not have the knowledge about the scams in Canada. You need to know the different types of scams which you may face if you are not aware of them. We will discuss some of these scams in detail. People may show that they belong to the staff of the Canadian government A person may call you and act as if it is a call from a governmental staff. Such persons may scare you that you have done something wrong and you have to pay the fee for the same. You may also be threatened with deportation or losing your immigration status. Solution for the problem IRCC will never:
  • Call you for collecting any fee or fine
  • Ask you for deportation
  • Threaten to harm you or your family
  • Ask for personal information over the phone
  • Ask questions regarding financial information over the phone
  • Force you to pay the fee immediately
  • Send police for arresting you
Getting suspicious call Take the following steps on getting a suspicious call:
  • Caller’s name should be asked
  • Call to the call center regarding the call
  • Report to Canadian anti-fraud center
In case you have lost money due to a scam, you need to go to a local police station and file a report. If you use a caller ID, then also do not believe as the scammers use the technology to show that it is a real phone call. Fake emails Fake emails consist of an email in which you may be convinced to make an investment provide passwords, provide personal information, and many other such things. Solution to the problem Delete such emails as none of the legalized investors send bulk emails. A stranger can send you an email which you are asked to navigate to a website. You may be asked to provide personal information on that website. Do not provide personal information unless it is proved that the website is secure. It is better not to click such links. Fake computer virus You may get an email or a phone call in which it is stated that your computer is infected by a virus. You may get an offer to remove the virus.
